Enrollment in this course is by invitation only

About This Course

In this course the students will learn how to build chips from scratch- from silicon to IC. First the students will learn about the basics of CMOS technology, build different combinational and sequential circuits using CMOS and finally learn how to fabricate them. The students will also learn how to build SRAM and DRAM devices using CMOS. They will also learn how to make the chips more power and area efficient.

The students will get to learn the basics of MOS transistor theory and their I-V characteristics. They will learn the DC response, delay, switching and dynamic power of such CMOS chips. An introduction to Verilog will also be given so that students can implement the digital systems they learned during the course.

Requirements

Pre-requisites are CSE260.

The students are also expected to know:

  • Basics of boolean algebra
  • Logic function synthesis using basic gates
  • Basic concepts of current and voltage

Don't worry if you dont remember these concepts, we will review each topic as needed to move forward :)
